🔗 The Complete Method I Teach, Written Down — The Door, The Road, The Days Away: https://edbrannigan.com/ Almost everything you picture about a burglary is wrong, and the biggest thing you have wrong is the clock. You picture three in the morning. A dark figure at a window while the house sleeps. That is the version in every film ever made and it is the version almost nobody actually experiences. Put yourself on the other side of it. What do you want most? An empty house. Now ask when a house is empty. Not at three in the morning, when everybody is home asleep in it. Daylight also makes a stranger look legitimate. A man on your path at eleven is a delivery driver or a contractor. The same man at three in the morning is an emergency. Which brings me to the uncomfortable conclusion in this video. Most standard home security advice is night advice, and night advice does nothing at eleven in the morning. Motion lights are invisible in daylight. Lamps on timers tell somebody your house is occupied in the evening and say nothing about the hours that actually matter. In this video: why that hour specifically, what the knock is really testing, the signals that say nobody has been here today, and the daytime list that replaces the night one. Plus the one genuinely dangerous decision people make when they come home and something is wrong. 💬 What time of day did you assume this happened before watching? And do you have long screws in your door frames? #homesecurity #burglary #crimeprevention #homesafety #retiredcop #safetytips #personalsafety #daytimecrime #neighborhoodwatch #protectyourhome
