Azerbaijani Jazz-Mugham · Strings of Baku | 1 Hour Tar, Kamancha & Balaban

Experience the distinctive sound of Azerbaijan with *Strings of Baku* — one hour of instrumental jazz-mugham built around the expressive voices of *tar, kamancha and balaban*. Drawing inspiration from Azerbaijan’s rich mugham tradition, this collection brings intricate modal melodies and ornamented improvisation into conversation with the freedom and movement of jazz. The *tar* takes a central role with its bright, intricate plucked phrases, while the *kamancha* answers with expressive bowed melodies and the breathy *balaban* adds a warm, unmistakable color. Traditional *ghaval and naghara percussion* blend with upright bass and restrained acoustic drums, allowing the Azerbaijani instruments to remain at the heart of the music. The result moves between reflective Caspian moods, flowing improvisations and more energetic rhythmic passages — rooted in tradition while open to jazz expression. Perfect for late-night listening, reading, studying, relaxing, or simply discovering the sound of Azerbaijani jazz-mugham. 🎵 *Tracklist* 0:00 Kamancha Nights 2:42 Dəniz Dumanı 6:14 Xəzər Ayı 8:50 Baku Serenade 12:03 Kamancha Dreams 15:42 Mugham Conversations 19:28 Strings of Absheron 22:02 Tar ve Kamancha 25:21 Tarın Sözləri 27:56 Flame and Silk 30:44 Old Baku Melodies 33:57 Silk Road Improvisation 37:12 Flames of Absheron 39:56 Caspian Lament 42:21 Shadows on the Caspian 45:06 Dance of the Tar 48:39 İki Səsli Mugal 51:22 Baku Courtyard 54:01 Winds Over Baku 56:03 Echoes of the Caucasus Video made in: vizzy.io Project by: * Nightfall Tapes #AzerbaijaniJazz #JazzMugham #Mugham #Azerbaijan #Baku #Tar #Kamancha #Balaban #WorldJazz #NightfallTapes
