Description

In this video, we explain Vivarium (2019) — a creepy sci-fi horror story about a young couple who go to look at a house and end up trapped in a strange neighborhood with no way out. Every house looks exactly the same, the clouds look fake, and no matter which way they drive, they always end up back at house number nine. With no food, no phone signal, and no help in sight, they find a mysterious box at their door with a baby inside and a message: "Raise the child and be set free." But the child grows up far too fast, and he is not like any normal kid. As the days pass, his strange behavior becomes more frightening, and the couple starts to lose hope. Who is behind this trap, and what do they really want? Can anyone escape this endless nightmare? Vivarium is a smart and creepy sci-fi horror film that stays in your mind long after it ends. The story is simple but very strong: a young couple gets trapped in a neighborhood where every house looks the same, and there is no way out. Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg give excellent performances and make the fear feel real. The bright, fake-looking colony is shocking in a different way, because it looks calm but feels deeply wrong. The film uses its small cast and single location to build a slow, heavy sense of dread. Critics praised its bold ideas about modern life, parenthood, and being stuck in a routine, which makes it more than just a horror movie.
