Description

What did ancient humans do for pleasure? Long before phones, video games, movies, and the internet, humans still got bored. They still wanted to have fun. So what did prehistoric humans actually do with their free time? In this video, we look at the surprising ways ancient humans found entertainment. Music, games, gambling, storytelling, art, dancing, attraction, and simple moments around the fire. Archaeological discoveries show that people were making music thousands of years ago. Ancient bone flutes, early games, cave art, and other objects give us small clues about how our ancestors spent their free time. We also look at the Royal Game of Ur, one of the oldest known board games, and what it tells us about ancient entertainment and human behavior. The more we look at the past, the harder it becomes to believe that ancient humans spent every minute just trying to survive. They had fun too. They got bored. They played. And in many ways, they weren't that different from us. If you enjoy ancient history, archaeology, prehistoric humans, human evolution, and strange stories about everyday life in the ancient world, you'll enjoy this one.
