Description

Every night in the 1960s, Fleet Street's newspaper vans raced the morning papers from the presses to Euston, King's Cross and Paddington to catch newspaper trains that would not wait. This documentary follows the overnight newspaper run through London: hot-metal print works, the publishing room, night drivers crossing the empty City, the newspaper trains, provincial wholesalers and the paperboy at dawn, and how the 1986 move to Wapping ended Fleet Street's nightly race. Did anyone in your family work on the newspaper vans, the print or the paper trains? Tell us in the comments. If you enjoy these stories of British lorries and road haulage, please subscribe so you don't miss the next one. And if you'd like to support the channel, a Super Thanks helps us research and make the next documentary. Thank you, it really means a lot. Visuals are illustrative reconstructions created for this documentary. #FleetStreet #BritishLorryArchive #LondonHistory
