How France Built the Copper Giant | Statue of Liberty

Statue of liberty construction | Gustave Eiffel Statue of Liberty | Statue of Liberty engineering | Statue of Liberty history | Statue of Liberty Kaha Par Hai Statue of Liberty बाहर से एक massive monument दिखती है, लेकिन इस thin copper skin के नीचे एक incredible engineering story छिपी है। 1879 में Eugène Viollet-le-Duc की death के बाद Bartholdi ने Gustave Eiffel की मदद ली। सबसे बड़ी problem थी कि 46.05-meter-tall hollow copper statue को तेज़ हवाओं में stable कैसे रखा जाए। Eiffel ने अंदर एक massive iron framework बनाया, जो statue के skeleton की तरह काम करता था। लेकिन ये project Atlantic के दोनों sides पर चल रहा था। France में 1881 से 1884 के बीच Statue को build और assemble किया गया, जबकि America में उसका pedestal बनाया जा रहा था। Paris में Statue complete होने के बाद उसे 350 pieces में dismantle करके 214 wooden cases में pack किया गया और 1885 में French ship Isère से New York भेजा गया। वहीं pedestal का construction funding crisis की वजह से रुक गया था। 1886 में pedestal complete होने के बाद Statue को फिर से assemble किया गया—पहले Eiffel का iron framework, फिर copper elements। और 28 October 1886 को हजारों लोगों के सामने इसका dedication हुआ। आज जो एक simple copper monument दिखता है, वो actually sculpture, structural engineering और international construction का remarkable combination था। #StatueOfLiberty #GustaveEiffel #StatueOfLibertyHistory #EngineeringHistory #Bartholdi #Documentary
