YouTube Music Subscribers vs Every Country's Population

This video compares the subscribers of YouTube's 'Music' channel, which YouTube runs itself, with the population of every country and territory, from October 2012 to September 2026. Data sources: YouTube channel pages archived by the Internet Archive and Social Blade (via the Internet Archive) for subscribers; population from national statistics offices that publish annual estimates (Eurostat, Statistics Canada, ABS, ONS, US Census Bureau, NBS China, Statistics Bureau of Japan and others) and UN World Population Prospects 2024 via Our World in Data for the rest. YouTube has shown subscriber counts rounded down to three significant figures since September 2019, so the counter is interpolated between monthly observations. Until November 2013 the counts are those of the channel's earlier topic-channel page, whose subscribers YouTube then moved to this one; the first archived count is 80, in October 2012.
