Discovering Phobos: The Mysterious Martian Moon

In this video of Beyond Stars Channel, we'll explore the mystery of Phobos. This moon is suddenly getting a lot of attention, and for good reason: it's one of the most mysterious objects in the solar system. We'll explore Phobos to know more about the moon and whether it could be a candidate for a future human mission to Mars. After watching this video, you'll have a better understanding of Phobos and what it means for our cosmic journey beyond the stars! Phobos, the larger of the two moons of Mars, has been a subject of fascination for scientists and space enthusiasts, for decades. Discovered by Asaph Hall, an American astronomer, in 1877, it was named after Phobos, the Greek God of fear. The moon is relatively small, compared to other moons in our solar system, measuring only 22 kilometers, in diameter. It has an irregular shape, covered in grooves and craters. Phobos is in a very close orbit to Mars, completing a full orbit in just 7 hours and 39 minutes. It has been studied extensively by spacecraft, including the Soviet Union's Phobos 1 and Phobos 2 missions, in 1988, and NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which has captured detailed images of the moon's surface.
