Lioness Couldn't Open This Pangolin!

Three lionesses. One young pangolin. And open sand with nowhere to run. Out on the red savanah sand, a young pangolin is caught in the open by a hunting pride — with no burrow within reach and no speed to escape. What follows is one of the strangest standoffs ever filmed: a sprint across bare ground, teeth sliding off solid armour, a lioness pinning him against a rock... and a last defence almost nobody knows he has. In the final minutes, we break down the science behind it: how pangolin scales are built from the same keratin as your fingernails, why a sealed ball defeats a predator ten times heavier, how armadillos solved the same problem with bone instead of hair, and what that armour costs the animal carrying it. 🔔 Subscribe for a new wildlife survival story every week.
