The Mafia That Did What No Italian Family Ever Dared | The Zemun Clan

March 12, 2003. Belgrade. The Prime Minister of Serbia is shot dead in broad daylight outside the government building — by the deputy commander of the country's most elite special forces unit. This is the story of the Zemun Clan: a criminal organisation that didn't infiltrate the state. It became the state. Heroin on the Balkan route, industrial-scale kidnappings, a fortress in Zemun with a soundproofed room — and an army of red berets who wore a government uniform by day and worked for the clan by night. From the embargo years that turned smuggling into the system, to the secret deal that brought down Milosevic, to Operation Sabre and the 11,000 arrests that followed — and the two hitmen who hid together for seven years before one shot the other. Some footage in this video is representative. Chapters of this story continue on the channel — the warlord Arkan is next. 🌐 About Endless Night Files: We are the official English-language sister channel to the original documentary creator "Sonsuz Gece".
