Description

Get my E-Book featuring old-fashioned recipes and traditional Money-Saving kitchen tricks at https://naomicooking.com/ Native American cooking was never one single cuisine. Different nations, regions, seasons, and ingredients created very different food traditions, but many of them shared the same practical idea, use what you have well and waste as little as possible. In this video, I go through 15 Native American recipes and food traditions, including Three Sisters stew, wojapi, blue corn mush, wild rice with cranberries, bison roast, hominy stew, frybread, corn-husk tamales, bone broth, pine nut soup, prickly pear spread, sumac drink, acorn cakes, cattail pollen cakes, and pemmican. Along the way, we look at the cooking techniques behind these foods, why preparation matters, how ingredients were stretched through difficult seasons, and which old lessons still make sense in a modern kitchen. This is not about claiming every Native community cooked the same way, it is about learning from different Indigenous food traditions and the practical knowledge behind them. Subscribe for more videos about Native American food, wilderness knowledge, traditional cooking, and forgotten skills. Which recipe would you try first? And comment what you want to see in the next video.
