Description
Castor oil uses go a long way past the one line printed on the label, and a bottle of it costs under ten dollars and lasts a good while when most of these take a drop or two. That one bottle stands in for lash and brow serums, hair smoothing serums and deep conditioning packets, cuticle oils and lip balms, winter body creams and heel creams, makeup removers and remover wipes, leather conditioners, furniture scratch repair kits, and the pest granules at the garden center. I put together 17 of my favorite money saving ways to use it, the ones I keep coming back to in my own house, from the bathroom cabinet out to the tool shed and the back yard. Cold pressed castor oil has been sitting in American medicine cabinets for generations, and hardly any of what it can do ever gets used.

DISCLAIMER: For educational purposes only. Castor oil is a strong laxative, so everything here is about using it on things and on skin, never about taking it by mouth, and the bottle stays up out of reach of children and pets. Always spot test on a small hidden area of any fabric, leather, or wood finish before you use it, since it darkens both leather and bare wood, and keep it off suede altogether. Keep it off skin that is broken, cracked open, or weeping, and off a fresh cut. Never take a blade or a callus shaver to your own feet, and if you have diabetes or you have lost any feeling in your feet, let your doctor look after them instead of doing it at home. Keep it out of your eyes and rinse well. This is not a substitute for professional medical or cleaning advice.
