Description

The end of the world has arrived—for billionaires, anyway. “Billionaire Apocalypse” is a darkly funny 1980s British synth-pop parody about extreme wealth, money in politics, tax loopholes, political access and the sheer horror of discovering that a billion dollars might not buy everything anymore. Told from the perspective of a panicked billionaire hiding in a luxury bunker while ordinary life continues perfectly normally outside, the song turns wealth taxes, antitrust, campaign influence and economic privilege into an absurd doomsday scenario. With icy synthesizers, deadpan emergency broadcasts, private jets, champagne, lobbyists and one devastated billionaire whose senator suddenly won’t return his calls, “Billionaire Apocalypse” uses political satire and cultural commentary to ask a simple question: when extraordinary privilege has become normal, does ordinary equality start to feel like Armageddon? The lyrics to all songs on the channel can be found in the closed captions.
