Michael Jones CONFRONTS Muslim Debater Over Muhammad and the Quran’s Marriage Rules!

Christian apologist Michael Jones of Inspiring Philosophy takes a seat on Outnumbered, a one versus five debate format, to face five Muslim guests on some of the most debated questions in Christian and Muslim dialogue today. The first prompt is direct and controversial: does Islam promote child marriage? Instead of disputing the sources, the Muslim guest grants that traditional Sunni narrations, including the well known hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari, place Aisha’s age at nine when the marriage was consummated. He also acknowledges that classical Quran commentators read Surah 65:4 as including girls who had not yet reached menstruation. His defense rests on a different point. He argues that the word promote means to actively encourage, and that something permitted in seventh century Arabia is not the same as something Islam promotes today.
