Description

In 1936, Soviet test driver Captain Yevgeny Anatolyevich Kulchitsky carried out one of the most extreme vehicle tests in military history: driving a BT-7 light tank off a steep cliff at roughly 50 km/h, sending it flying through the air for 42 meters before crashing down into water below. The test was designed to explore whether tanks could use jumps like this tactically, such as crossing rivers or gaps at speed rather than fording them slowly. Kulchitsky reportedly avoided drinking water for a full day beforehand to reduce the risk of internal injury from the violent impact of landing, and had to precisely manage the tank’s track speed mid-flight to keep them from flying off before touchdown. The jump remains one of the most remarkable — and dangerous — vehicle tests of the interwar period, a reminder of just how far military engineers were willing to go to understand the limits of their machines. #wwii #worldwarii #worldwar2 #history #historyfacts #historyshorts #historia #historical #ww2history #ww2facts #soviettank #bt7 #tankfacts #militaryvehicles #sovietunion #1936 #documentary #education #militaryhistory #engineering #historylovers #fyp #edit #warthunder #warthundertanks #phonk #memes #didyouknow
