Description
Every single thing in your house is costing you more than you paid for it, and almost nobody finds that out until it's too late.
For forty years I ran the lost and found shelf in a hotel. Things sat there ninety days, and almost nobody ever called about them.
MY BOOK: The Spotless Method, the whole system written down in the order I'd actually do it.
spotlessmethod.com
I spent forty years in hotel housekeeping, and I finished as the one who inspected the rooms and signed the supply order. I watched guests live happily for a week, a month, sometimes a year, out of one closet and two drawers. I watched a long stay guest leave with her whole life in two bags, and she was fine. And I've stood in a friend's driveway while her grown children cleared her house in one weekend. So this isn't a cleaning video. It's the why underneath the last three, nine reasons I'm gently begging you to let go, said as kindly as I know how. I'm not telling you to throw out a thing today, I kept my mother's dishes, and nothing here needs a ladder or your knees. It's a sit down talk, with one small seated task at the end.
What's inside:
1. Every thing you own costs you twice
2. Being picky is the whole trick
3. Buying a solution brings home a new problem
4. Shopping is the most expensive way to feel better
5. The goal was never nothing, it's keeping what you love
6. Letting go is a habit, not a Saturday
7. You feel richer with less
8. You stop buying for the woman you meant to become
9. You find out what you actually value
Plus: the three questions that settle almost any object in your hands. Is it here because it belongs, or because deciding feels harder than leaving it another year? Is it for the woman you are today, or the one you meant to become? Would you buy this exact thing today at full price?
What's the one thing you've kept for someday, and how long has someday been? Tell me in the comments. Mine is my mother's sewing machine, since 1998. I read every one.
New videos every week on keeping a lovely home after 60, gently, and in the right order.
