Description

Give me two hours in your house and I could take out a third of what's in it, and by supper you couldn't tell me what I took. Not because I'm tidier than you. It's because none of it is mine. Your house has been telling you what you use for years, and here is how to read it, room by room, with a kitchen timer. MY BOOK: The Spotless Method, the whole system written down in the order I'd actually do it. spotlessmethod.com I spent forty years in hotel housekeeping, and at the end I was the one who inspected the rooms. I'd walk into a room somebody else had just cleaned, and I had about four minutes to see what didn't belong in it. I never opened every drawer. I read the room by what was lying out. This is that same walk through your house, in the order a hotel inspector goes, with the two hours split on a kitchen timer: thirty minutes for the closet, forty five for the kitchen, fifteen for the bathroom, twenty for the front room and ten to get the boxes out. Nothing leaves your house today, it all goes into a taped box with a date on it. And nothing in this video involves bending to the floor, a ladder, or your knees. There's a chair in every room, and anything high or heavy gets handed down by somebody younger. What's inside: 1. The clues your house is already giving you 2. The closet, thirty minutes 3. The kitchen counters and the refrigerator 4. The kitchen cabinets, the dishes and the duplicates 5. The bathroom, fifteen minutes 6. The front room, twenty minutes 7. The boxes out, ten minutes Plus: who makes money from a full house, and the honest limits of what two hours can do. Which room would you give me first, and what are the three things on your counter you'd fight me over? Tell me in the comments. Mine was my toaster. I read every one. New videos every week on keeping a lovely home after 60, gently, and in the right order. #decluttering #declutterover60 #hotelhousekeeping #homekeeping #seniorliving #simpleliving #womenover60 #tidyhome
