Description

African Savannah | Nature’s Deadliest Fight for Survival | Nature Animal Documentary. On the red sands of the Kalahari, the dry savannah of southern Africa, the ground can reach one hundred sixty degrees and a single mistake decides who eats tonight. Across nearly four hours of chained chapters, the deadliest fights for survival on the African savannah are won not only by fangs and speed but by patience, courage and the smartest tactics in the wild. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the opening chapter follows four battles and four answers. Two lionesses circle a gemsbok whose straight horns have cost even a male lion his life, in a desert where lions win only six of thirty nine hunts against adult gemsbok. A family of meerkats, each under two pounds, answers a cobra with a living wall instead of running. A cheetah mother hunts springbok in the hottest hour of the day so that lions and hyenas cannot steal her meal, while two black backed jackals wait nearby. And a pack of African wild dogs votes by sneezing, then runs an impala down in the open with a success rate no other large hunter in Africa can match. 0:00 Death on the Red Sand 0:39 The Kalahari: an Arena Without Mercy 3:24 Gemsbok: the Antelope That Fights Back 5:10 Lions vs Gemsbok 6:47 Horns That Can End a Lion 9:06 Meerkats of the Kalahari 10:06 The Meerkat Alarm Code 10:45 Meerkats vs Cobra 13:32 The Cheetah Mother 15:06 Cheetah vs Springbok 17:18 Jackals Wait for the Meal 20:20 African Wild Dogs: the Vote 21:34 Wild Dogs vs Impala 23:15 Four Battles, Four Answers 28:07 Which Weapon Rules the Kalahari 30:25 African Savannah: Lions vs Buffalo 1:40:00 Deadliest Fights of the Kalahari 2:50:00 African Savannah: Rivals at the Waterhole Epic Moments in This Documentary: Two lionesses pressing flat on a dune slope above a grazing gemsbok A lioness landing on the flank of an antelope armed with sword like horns A meerkat digging on the far slope as a cobra rises right behind it A whole meerkat group charging a cobra shoulder to shoulder A springbok leaping straight into the air instead of running A cheetah mother cutting through razor sharp turns on soft red sand Two black backed jackals waiting for their chance near the cheetah African wild dogs sneezing to vote before the hunt The wild dog pack fanning out and trotting at an impala herd in the open Pups eating first while the adults of the pack step back Lions, buffalo and hyenas of the African savannah in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. In the Kalahari the deadliest weapon is the right tactic: lions rarely face a gemsbok head on, meerkats use separate alarm calls for eagles and snakes, running from one and gathering against the other, a cheetah mother hunts at midday when the thieves are resting, and African wild dogs reach a hunting success of up to 80 percent, around three times higher than lions. The African wild dog is Endangered, with only a few thousand left across the continent. This documentary contains raw, unfiltered footage of nature at its most intense. Viewer discretion is advised. All footage is captured in the wild with no interference to natural animal behavior.
