Description

The Most Dangerous Predators of the African Savannah | FULL EPISODE | Nature Animal Documentary. On the flat plains of Savuti in northern Botswana there is nowhere to hide, so the side with more bodies wins: a lion pride against a buffalo herd, a hyena clan against a wall of elephants. Across nearly four hours of chained chapters, the most dangerous predators of the African savannah are set against the hunters of the Himalayas to reveal one law of the wild: the ground chooses the winner. Through cinematic footage and educational storytelling, the opening chapter follows lionesses that pull down a Cape buffalo before the herd can turn back, a pride closing an arc around a zebra herd, and spotted hyenas, endurance hunters that catch most of their own food in Savuti, testing a herd of elephants by night. Then the story climbs to the Himalayas, where blue sheep use the cliffs as a fortress, a snow leopard mother stalks them across a bare scree slope above sixteen thousand feet, Himalayan wolves follow the chiru across the Tibetan Plateau, wild yaks face the blizzard in a ring of horns, and bearded vultures drop bones onto the rocks. 0:00 The Ground Chooses the Winner 0:59 Savuti: Lions vs Buffalo at the Waterhole 2:59 The Pride Takes Down a Buffalo 4:43 Why Lions Live in Prides 5:34 Lions vs Zebra 8:06 Spotted Hyenas: Endurance Hunters 9:28 Hyena Clan vs Elephant Herd 11:26 No Villains on Flat Ground 12:21 Himalayas: the Blue Sheep Fortress 13:55 The Snow Leopard 15:00 The Himalayan Wolf 16:47 Snow Leopard vs Ibex: Over the Edge 18:09 Snow Leopard Mother Hunts Blue Sheep 21:39 The Wild Yak 24:02 Himalayan and Bearded Vultures 24:50 Spring in Manang 25:44 Wolves vs Chiru on the Tibetan Plateau 27:15 The Ground Chooses Again 29:26 African Savannah: Lions vs Buffalo 1:39:00 Hyenas vs Lions: Rivals of Savuti 2:49:00 Crocodiles and Big Cats of Africa Epic Moments in This Documentary: Lionesses dragging a Cape buffalo to its knees before the herd can turn A buffalo herd wheeling back at the bellow of one of its own A zebra escaping one lioness and running straight into another A hyena clan whooping across the flats to count its numbers at night An elephant mother charging and scattering the whole clan Blue sheep freezing like stone on a sheer Himalayan cliff A snow leopard and an ibex tumbling over the edge at Kibber A snow leopard mother slipping down a vertical rock face A downhill charge across loose scree in the thinnest air on Earth Wild yaks standing with their backs to the blizzard around their calves A bearded vulture dropping a bone onto the rocks from high above Lions, hyenas and crocodiles of the African savannah in the chained chapters Behind the drama is a system. On flat ground, numbers decide: in Savuti, hyenas take a carcass from lionesses only when they outnumber them four to one, and two out of three lion chases after zebra in northern Botswana end in failure. On steep ground, position decides: a snow leopard weighs less than many of its prey and brings down a large animal only about once every eight to ten days, so every missed charge falls on cubs that stay with their mother for close to two years. The snow leopard is listed as Vulnerable, and the African lion is Vulnerable across a range that has shrunk to a fraction of its past. This documentary contains raw, unfiltered footage of nature at its most intense. Viewer discretion is advised. All footage is captured in the wild with no interference to natural animal behavior.
