Description

Sudan has over 200 pyramids. Egypt has around 120. Almost nobody knows why. Around 2,700 years ago, kings from Nubia — modern-day Sudan — conquered Egypt and were crowned pharaohs. Historians call them the Black Pharaohs, Egypt's 25th Dynasty. The most powerful was Taharqa, who rebuilt temples at Karnak and ruled an empire stretching from the Nile Delta deep into Sudan — before a rising Assyrian empire pushed him back south. #EgyptianHistory #AncientEgypt #Pharaoh #Nubia #Sudan #BlackPharaohs #Archaeology #History #AncientHistory #shorts Sources: Nuri and Jebel Barkal excavation records, Karnak Temple inscriptions, 25th Dynasty Egypt / Kushite Empire history
