She went on to star in major films like Panna and the blockbuster Gaon Ki Gori alongside Noor Jehan, receiving massive fame and even a government reward of ₹9,000 — a huge fortune at that time. But behind the screen beauty lay a shocking reality. Film industry insiders later revealed that Geeta was extremely unhygienic — bathing only once a week, suffering from lice in her hair, and having such a strong body odor that many actors refused to perform close scenes with her. This bizarre habit slowly pushed her out of leading roles despite her talent. Her personal life was even more dramatic. Married at a young age to Barkat Nizami, she later fell in love with director B.D. Wadia, converted her religion, and remarried — only to separate soon after.
