Friday (1995): The Banned Ending They Hid For Over 30 Years!

Ice Cube wrote this on his very first attempt at a screenplay — and buried inside it was a deliberate choice most audiences never noticed. In a genre full of gunfire and tragedy, this movie made the radical decision to end without a single shot fired. That choice almost didn't survive the studio. Friday, 1995, became one of the most quoted comedies ever made. Shot in just 20 days, in the real neighborhood it depicts, with real residents cast as extras. Chris Rock almost played Smokey. The film's own co-writer was supposed to play the role instead. And behind the laughs is a deliberate answer to an entire genre of violent hood films that came before it. 🎬 ABOUT THIS CHANNEL We uncover the untold stories behind classic Hollywood films — the risks, the realism, and the behind-the-scenes drama nobody wanted you to know.
