Description

What does a country sound like? I turned every European country into a visual waveform and synthetic sound using two things that make each country instantly recognizable: its border shape and its national flag. Each country begins with its geographic outline traced across the map of Europe. That shape is converted into a waveform and played as sound. Then its flag appears, and the colors, stripes, crosses, stars, symbols, and coats of arms are traced into a completely different visual pattern and sound. From the coastlines of Norway and Greece to the shapes of Italy, Spain, Croatia, Finland, the United Kingdom, and dozens more, every country produces a unique result. Some sound smooth. Some sound chaotic. Some sound completely unexpected. This is an artistic visualization and sonification experiment. The depiction of borders or territories does not represent a position on sovereignty, territorial disputes, or political recognition. Which European country sounded the best—or the strangest? Let me know in the comments. #FlagSonification #DataSonification #Geography #CreativeCoding #Flags
