On the Ballot | Trump, Congress & the 2026 Midterms — Political Protest Song

“On the Ballot” is a political protest song inspired by Donald Trump’s call for voters to “pretend that I’m on the ballot,” turning that idea into cultural commentary on the 2026 midterm elections and the power of Congress. With a haunting folk-rock sound, the song asks what is really at stake when Americans choose House and Senate candidates: laws and budgets, congressional oversight, investigations, impeachment, ICE funding, healthcare, Medicare, education and the constitutional checks placed on presidential power. Mixing irony, humor and a darker political edge, “On the Ballot” explores the larger meaning behind a midterm vote—and why a president’s name doesn’t have to appear on the ballot for his agenda, his power and congressional accountability to be part of the election.
