📘 Get the Complete 3-Book Becker Protocol for More Energy, Clearer Days & Deeper Sleep 👉 https://beckerprotocol.com 😴 Want to know what the longest-living people actually ate every day? Tired of paying for longevity products that cost more than your groceries? ⬇️ Three short, food-first guides — energy by day, cellular defense & overnight repair: 🔬 https://beckerprotocol.com Food-first. Evidence-based. Explained honestly. Educational only — always talk to your own doctor. Four foods keep appearing in the cohort studies of the world's longest-living populations, and every one of them is cheap. This video walks through what the Costa Rican CRELES study, the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis and the Japanese centenarian cohorts actually measured — including the 2015 finding in 684 centenarians that quietly undercuts the whole premise, and why it does not change a single recommendation. 🔴 Key Topics Covered: - The honest correction: reading the cohorts is not the same as studying 400 people - CRELES (909 adults, Costa Rica): the traditional rice-and-beans pattern and +42 base pairs of telomere length - What 42 base pairs actually means when you translate it into years - MESA (840 adults): the anti-inflammatory food groups that tracked with longer telomeres - Whole vs refined grains — why every long-lived cohort ate a starch, but never a stripped one - Why dark leafy greens keep appearing: folate as a copying story, not an antioxidant story - Fermented soy — and why I put it fourth on the evidence, not just on the running order - Arai et al. (2015): in 684 centenarians, inflammation predicted successful ageing and telomere length did not - Why that finding changes nothing about what to put on your plate - The kitchen version: tinned beans over dried, the single bread swap, and why frozen greens beat fresh for a household of one What if the four foods were never chosen for your telomeres, but happen to be right anyway? 📚 RESEARCH CITED IN THIS VIDEO: Primary Studies: - Costa Rican Longevity and Healthy Aging Study (CRELES). 909 participants aged 60+: the traditional Costa Rican rice-and-beans dietary pattern was positively associated with baseline leukocyte telomere length, an increase of 42.0 base pairs per one-unit increase in the traditional dietary pattern score. - Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA). Cross-sectional study of 840 white, black and Hispanic adults comparing telomere length against dietary patterns and food groups associated with markers of inflammation: whole grains, fruit and vegetables, low-fat dairy, nuts or seeds, non-fried fish and coffee versus refined grains, fried foods, red meat, processed meat and sugar-sweetened soda. - Arai Y et al. (2015). eBioMedicine. 1,554 individuals including 684 centenarians and (semi-)supercentenarians plus 536 very old adults aged 85-99, drawn from the Tokyo Centenarians Study and the Japanese Semi-supercentenarians Study. Inflammation predicted all-cause mortality (HR 1.89 in the very old; HR 1.36 in the semi-supercentenarians) and predicted capability and cognition better than chronological age or sex. Centenarians and their offspring maintained long telomeres, but telomere length was not a predictor of successful ageing. - Pró-Saúde Study (Brazil). Leukocyte telomere length was longer among participants following a traditional dietary pattern combining fruit, vegetables and beans. Additional Research: - Reference values for adult leukocyte telomere length in the thousands of base pairs, with typical attrition on the order of tens of base pairs per year — used in the video to translate the CRELES effect size into a plausible number of years. - Established nutrition science on the removal of bran and germ during grain refining, and on dark leafy greens as a dense dietary source of folate required for DNA replication. #DrBecker #SeniorHealth #EvidenceBasedHealth #LongevityScience #Telomeres #Centenarians #CRELES #MESA #Beans #Legumes #WholeGrains #LeafyGreens #FermentedSoy #Miso #Natto #Folate #Inflammaging #HealthAfter60 #HealthyAging #Over50Health #SeniorWellness #ActiveSeniors #LongevityFoods #CellularAging © 2026 Dr. Becker Health.
