Description

On a Sunday night in July 1961, a Youngstown mob boss finished his last dinner at a restaurant on Route 422 outside Warren. A little after midnight, the car he got into blew up. The rooms Ohio's mob owned, plotted in and got bugged in are almost all gone now. A few are still serving. This is the Ohio mob as a restaurant map. The Roman Gardens basement in Cleveland's Little Italy where new men got sworn in in 1977. Guarino's on Mayfield Road. The Theatrical Grill on Short Vincent, where detectives and judges sat right next to numbers runners. The Warren dinners where the Danny Greene hit first shows up on the record. The bugged Calla Mar Manor in Youngstown. And the one supper club on Route 422 that outlived all of it. Every stop comes with a receipt: federal court opinions, FBI files and named reporting.
