Description
The heads of America's three biggest carmakers flew to Washington on private corporate jets to ask Congress for a bailout. General Motors needed the money to survive. So did Chrysler. And the man from Ford sat at the same witness table, running a company that had just lost more money than any American automaker ever had. That was November 2008. Within a year, two of those three companies would file for bankruptcy. Ford would post a profit, and it would never take a single dollar of the rescue. So how did the one that looked weakest save itself?
