The Baboons Had No Idea a Leopard Was Watching From the Cave

The baboons had no idea a leopard was watching them from a cave beside the last waterhole of the dry season in Samburu, Kenya. This baboon vs leopard story follows an olive baboon (Papio anubis) troop, a mother carrying her black-furred baby, and a leopard (Panthera pardus) waiting in the shade only twenty metres from the water. But an old male baboon saw her walk into that cave at sunrise. When the leopard attacks, the hunter becomes the hunted: the troop pours down the cliff, blocks her cave, and chases her up a lone acacia. Real leopard hunting and baboon behaviour — ambush, alarm barks, males that walk toward danger, and a leopard that climbs better than any other big cat. 00:00 - A Leopard Bursts From the Cave at the Baboons 00:28 - Samburu: The Last Waterhole of the Dry Season 00:46 - The Leopard Misses an Impala at Dawn 01:02 - An Old Male Baboon Watches From the Ledge 01:16 - The Baboon Troop Comes Down to Drink 01:57 - The Leopard Stalks the Mother and Her Baby 02:43 - Leopard vs Baboon: The Chase Up the Rocks 03:18 - A Big Male Baboon Drops in Front of the Leopard 04:16 - The Leopard Cuts the Mother Off on the Riverbed 04:30 - The Old Baboon Slams Into the Leopard 04:44 - The Leopard Pins the Old Male Baboon 04:59 - The Big Male Baboon Jumps on the Leopard's Back 05:47 - The Baboon Troop Comes Down and Blocks the Cave 06:29 - The Baboons Chase the Leopard Across the Riverbed 06:56 - The Leopard Escapes Up a Lone Acacia 07:32 - The Baboons Drink Beneath the Empty Cave 🎵 Music: "Hitman" by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ #baboon #leopard #wildlife ⚠️ AI-Assisted Production: Original concept, research, and script by the creator.
