Description
What was it really like to live the life of Generation Jones?
Born between 1954 and 1965, Generation Jones came of age in a strange position in American history. They were technically grouped with the Baby Boomers, yet many were too young to experience the defining Boomer moments in the same way.
Their childhood belonged to one America. Their adulthood arrived in another.
They grew up with rotary phones, paper maps, vinyl records, neighborhood childhoods and a world where being unreachable was completely normal.
Then they watched everything change.
The 1970s brought economic uncertainty, inflation, changing families and a very different atmosphere from the optimism associated with the early Baby Boom.
They entered adulthood, built careers, raised families, bought homes, cared for aging parents and adapted again and again as America moved from analog to digital.
Records became cassettes, CDs and eventually streaming.
Typewriters became computers.
Rotary phones became smartphones.
And a generation that grew up without the internet eventually found itself living in the age of artificial intelligence.
But now Generation Jones is entering another stage.
Children have grown up. Careers are changing or ending. Parents are becoming very old or are already gone. Houses that once felt full have become quieter. And many are beginning to ask a question they didn't have much time to ask before:
What do I actually want to do with the years ahead?
In this Professor Blackwood documentary, we follow the life of Generation Jones from childhood through adolescence, work, family, technology, retirement and the stage they're entering today.
This is more than nostalgia.
It's the biography of a generation that spent its entire life adapting.
