Description

📖 My 30-year ranger field guide is here: https://othocombs.site/ After spending thirty years as a backcountry park ranger in Appalachia and walking the entire trail from Georgia to Maine, I learned that every ranger has a mountain they refuse to climb. In this video, I'm taking you through six of those mountains—five I can explain, and one I simply can't. What’s Covered in This Video: Rumbling Bald, North Carolina: A ridge that started violently booming and shaking in February 1874, just days after a local revival ended. Fort Mountain, Georgia: Home to an ancient 900-foot stone zigzag wall with no mortar, no date, and no proven builders. Blood Mountain, Georgia: The highest point on the Georgia Appalachian Trail, carrying a history of ancient battles, spirit guides, and strict bear safety rules. Mount Weather, Virginia: A secretive federal underground bunker on the Blue Ridge that was exposed by a tragic 1974 plane crash. Roan Mountain, Tennessee/North Carolina: The historic site of the Cloudland Hotel ruins and the eerie "ghost choir" that echoes through the high winds. Brown Mountain, North Carolina: The site of the legendary, debated lights and an unnerved encounter where the wind completely stopped around me at 7:30 PM.
