Description

The business documentary on fraud, CaaStle, and Christine Hunsicker, who built a $1.4 billion company on financial statements that investigators say were largely fiction. Investors poured nearly $300 million into CaaStle, the fashion rental technology company behind programs for brands like Ann Taylor, Express, and Vince. But behind the billion-dollar valuation was a growing web of fake revenue, falsified audits, forged signatures, misleading bank statements, and millions of shares investors did not know existed. At one point, investors were shown a bank balance of nearly $200 million. The real balance was under $200,000. Revenue figures were inflated by thousands of percent, audit reports were altered, and CaaStle continued raising money even after serious questions had already been raised about its financial statements. This documentary follows the rise and collapse of CaaStle and the psychology behind Christine Hunsicker's fraud, from the first false financial statement to the fake audits, the missing page that helped expose everything, the FBI investigation, and the eventual collapse of the company. In March 2026, Hunsicker pleaded guilty to securities fraud. In August, she was sentenced to five years in federal prison and ordered to forfeit and repay more than $283 million. But the most interesting part of the CaaStle story is not how complicated the fraud became. It is why it started. A story about corporate fraud, startup deception, investor psychology, fake financial statements, securities fraud, and what happens when nobody in the room wants to ask the uncomfortable question.
