Description
In this video, I separate the manual transmission from a 1.8L engine that has sold. The buyer only needs the engine because they'll be installing it with a good automatic transmission they already have.
As I take the transmission off, I explain how the manual transmission components work together, including the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel, and how they transfer power from the engine to a stick shift transmission.
I also compare this setup to an automatic transmission, showing the differences between a flywheel and clutch assembly versus a flex plate and torque converter. If you've ever wondered why the same engine can often be used with either a manual or automatic transmission, this video helps explain what changes and what stays the same.
Whether you're replacing an engine, converting a vehicle, or just want to better understand how manual and automatic drivetrains differ, this video walks through the key components and their functions during a real engine/transmission separation.
Thanks for watching! If you enjoy practical automotive repairs, engine teardowns, and technical explanations, be sure to like the video, subscribe, and leave a comment with any questions or suggestions for future projects.
