Description
🔧 Everything I learned fixing HVAC for 25 years, in one plain-English book.
📘 THE HVAC SURVIVAL GUIDE - get it here: https://raydutton.com
The box on your furnace filter says ninety days, so this fall you wrote the date on the frame and forgot it. That date is how a thirty-dollar filter can end with a blower motor that costs up to two thousand dollars. Ninety days doesn't hold once it turns cold. When the furnace runs most of the day, the same filter can be full in about a month, and the furnace works harder every hour after that.
In twenty-five years of winter service calls, I pulled a lot of packed filters, and the date on the frame was usually from before the weather turned. In this video I go through the five things about your furnace filter that change in winter: the ninety days on the box, the second filter a lot of houses don't know they have, the whistle, the thirty-dollar filter itself, and the blower motor that gets blamed on the furnace.
For each one I show you the free check, what the fix costs, and when it's a job for a tech. And I'll give you the one question to ask before anybody puts in a new motor.
