Description
I’ve lived alone for most of my life, and after all these years, I’ve learned that being alone and being lonely are not the same thing.
In this video, I share what living alone has taught me about independence, freedom, responsibility, aging, loneliness, and finding peace with your own company. As we get older, life can change in ways we never expected. Children move away, spouses pass on, friendships change, retirement brings quieter days, and sometimes the home that once felt full suddenly becomes very quiet.
But a quiet life doesn’t have to be an unhappy life.
Living alone has taught me how to solve problems, develop new skills, enjoy simple routines, appreciate animals and nature, and become comfortable with myself. It has also taught me that we shouldn’t spend our later years worrying constantly about what other people think or what might happen tomorrow.
If you’re living alone, thinking about living alone, or simply trying to find more peace and independence as you grow older, I hope this story gives you something to think about.
Remember: there is no single “right” way to live. Some people are happiest surrounded by family and friends. Others find happiness in a quiet home and a slower life. What matters most is discovering what genuinely brings you peace.
Thank you for watching, and I hope you’ll stay with me for more stories, reflections, and lessons about growing older and living a meaningful life.
