Romans Threw Curses Into Sacred Water

Roman curse tablets reveal a surprisingly personal side of life in ancient Rome. At Aquae Sulis, modern-day Bath, people scratched grievances onto thin sheets of lead or pewter and cast them into the sacred spring of Sulis Minerva. Many asked for stolen property to be returned—or for whoever took it to be punished. Nearly two thousand years later, these cramped messages still preserve the anger, frustration and desperation of ordinary Romans. The Keeper examines the strange history behind the Roman curse tablets of Bath. Follow Bedtime Myths and Mysteries for more ancient mysteries, forgotten artifacts and strange history. Each episode is written, researched, narrated/produced, edited and visually directed for this channel, combining original music, folklore, history and original cinematic storytelling. Episodes use original scripts and editing, with AI-assisted visual/Audio production where appropriate, narration is done by a cloned voice of myself. #RomanCurseTablets #AncientRome #RomanBaths #SulisMinerva #AncientMysteries #Archaeology #RomanHistory #strangehistory #Bedtime Myths and Mysteries, #sleep story for adults, #ASMR stories, #Ghost stories
