Description

In 1965, North Vietnamese soldiers walking south were told what to expect from the Americans. Their infantry is weak, one of them remembered the cadres saying. They are strong only in the air, in heavy equipment and in artillery. Then the Americans came down out of the sky. This is what an NVA soldier learned the first time he faced American troops at Ia Drang, LZ X-Ray and LZ Albany, told from the North Vietnamese side of the tree line. Eight lessons, from RAND's 1965 prisoner interviews, Hanoi's own campaign review, the U.S. Army's official account and Vietnamese veterans interviewed in 2025. And one real notebook, picked up at Dak To in 1967, kept in an American veteran's attic for more than half a century, then carried home to the soldier's family. Every claim sourced. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📕 THE BOOKS FROM TRUE VIETNAM DOCS First-time readers get a lower price, applied automatically at checkout ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ BOOK ONE · The Documented History of MACV-SOG in Vietnam ($7.99) The book mentioned in the video as The SOG Files, now published under this title.
