Description

West of Detroit, American engineers put a small green Chinese hatchback on a lift and took it apart, piece by piece. The man in charge spent forty-five years building cars, including General Motors’ most profitable pickup trucks. When they finished, he said Detroit would have to change in radical ways to compete. In China, that car has sold for as little as eight thousand dollars. You can’t buy it in America. But last week, Ford’s own CEO warned the country must be extremely careful about how Chinese carmakers come in. So what did the engineers find, and what happens when it reaches your street? Everything in this video comes from published sources: the Associated Press and Caresoft Global for the teardown, U-B-S and Nikkei for the cost analysis, and company price lists for the numbers. Where something crosses from fact into my interpretation, I will tell you. ------------------------------- Copyright Disclaimer We do not fully own the material compiled in this video.
