Description
What was it really like to drive a truck through the Canadian wilderness in the 1950s?
In this first-person historical reconstruction, step into the cab of an old Canadian truck and experience one long working day from the driver's point of view.
Before sunrise, I check the engine, oil, belts and tires. Then I head into the bush, where narrow logging roads, mud, heavy loads, rain and mechanical problems become part of the job.
There are no cell phones. No roadside assistance. No easy way out.
When something breaks, I stop, open the toolbox and fix it myself.
From the morning start to the final miles home, this is a grounded look at the hard, practical reality of early Canadian truck driving.
If you enjoy Canadian history, old trucks, logging history, vintage transportation and real working-life stories, this journey takes you back to the road as it once was.
Would you have kept driving — or stopped to fix the problem?
