Totò le Moko (1949) | Classic Italian Comedy | Full Movie

A hilarious parody of the noir classic "Pépé le Moko." In Totò le Moko, the legendary gangster Pepé le Moko dies during a shootout with the police. To find a successor, his gang decides to track down a blood relative. They find Antonio Lumaconi (Totò), a humble and clumsy street musician living in Naples, and bring him to the Casbah of Algiers to take the lead. Thinking he’s been invited to conduct a prestigious orchestra, Antonio soon realizes he’s expected to be a ruthless underworld boss. Between failed assassination attempts, exotic dancers, and the irresistible charm of the Casbah, Totò delivers a comedic masterclass as he tries to survive his new "mafia" lifestyle. Directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia and written by some of the masters of Italian comedy, this film is a timeless gem of European cinema. Experience the genius of Totò in this beautifully restored version.
