Description

Before you sell a single piece of vintage designer jewelry, stop and ask yourself one question: how do you actually know it is real? Because the same famous names that make a brooch or a bracelet worth thousands of dollars are also the names that get stamped onto copies, reproductions and modern pieces made to look old, and a signature on the back is only the beginning of the story, never the end of it. In this video I walk through seven vintage designer jewelry makers whose genuine pieces sell for real money, and for each one I show you exactly how I check a piece before I ever trust a price. I am Roy Danforth, and for thirty-eight years I have been buying and pricing estate sales, flea markets and antique mall booths across the Ohio Valley and the Midwest. In that time I have seen families sell a real signed piece for pocket change because nobody checked it, and I have seen others pay serious money for a fake because the stamp on the back looked right. I will be honest with you from the start, most jewelry carrying a famous name is not worth what the name suggests, and I am not going to inflate that for you. But the genuine pieces are out there in ordinary jewelry boxes, and the checks that separate them from the copies take only a minute once you know what to look at. For every maker on this list, I will show you how the signature should look, where it sits on the piece, how the clasp and the back should be built, how the weight and the stones should feel, and the small details that give a later copy away. Do not sell anything to the first buyer who makes you an offer, do not let anyone tell you it is costume and not worth a second look, until you have gone through this whole list. If you find this useful, consider subscribing, because I go through a new jewelry box every week. And stay to the end, because the maker at number one is the one most often faked, and the check that catches it is the simplest one on this entire list.
