Description

While modern-day anime are all about demons and heroes embarking on adventures against evil, the 80s and 90s were defined by the surplus of space-opera anime! Known for their themes exploring grand, melodramatic stories set against outer space with tropes of interstellar warfare, political tensions and personal growth arcs, this genre was so well-loved a few decades ago. It gave us hits such as Crest of the Stars, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Crusher Joe, but sadly enough, most of these dramas have been forgotten over time. Today, I'll take you through some of the greatest space-opera anime from the 80s and 90s, so let’s take this walk down memory lane together and get right into it!
