Description
Experience the face of one of ancient Egypt’s best-preserved Ptolemaic mummies through the power of Artificial Intelligence, advanced facial reconstruction, digital restoration, and realistic 3D visualization. This documentary-style AI reconstruction brings the man known as Pacheri back to life, more than 2,000 years after he was embalmed.
Each reconstruction is inspired by archaeological evidence, preserved mummies, inscriptions, historical records, and the physical features preserved through thousands of years.
Pacheri was an adult man about 1.65 metres tall who lived during Egypt’s Ptolemaic Period, around 305 to 30 BCE, when Egypt was ruled by Greek-speaking kings. X-ray analysis confirmed the mummy is that of an adult man. His name was written hastily and can be read as either Pacheri or Nenu, and the reading is still uncertain.
The quality of his embalming and the state of his preservation make him stand out. A broad collar of several rows of beads, with falcon-headed clasps, covers his chest. The apron over his body is divided into registers showing the mummy lying on a funerary bed, surrounded by the goddesses Isis and Nephthys and the four sons of Horus. The casing around his feet carries two images of Anubis, god of embalming.
Today he is displayed at the Louvre in Paris (inventory N 2627), in a small niche at the back of the large sarcophagi room, where he can only be seen in dim light.
Using AI facial reconstruction, digital restoration, realistic facial modeling, historical reconstruction, and cinematic 3D visualization, this project offers an immersive glimpse into the past while respecting the archaeological evidence behind each reconstruction.
