Please SAVE This FORGOTTEN 80s Cult Movie From OBSCURITY!

Some movies from the 1980s never got the love they deserved! This forgotten cult movie has a great premise, a connection to the 1961 novel The Butterfly Revolution by William Butler, and a story that feels like a darker take on Lord of the Flies. Starring Chuck Connors, the film follows a group of campers who revolt against the people in charge, only to discover that taking control can be just as dangerous as the system they overthrew. But here’s what makes this movie especially interesting to physical-media collectors: despite its original VHS and LaserDisc releases, no official U.S. DVD release has been identified in the historical sources we’ve reviewed. Decades later, this obscure piece of ’80s cinema remains a forgotten gem that deserves another chance! In this video, we’re taking a look back at Summer Camp Nightmare, exploring its history, its literary origins, its unusual home-video legacy, and the mystery of why it has never received a modern U.S. physical-media release. Why has this movie been overlooked for so long? Is it a rights issue, a forgotten film library, or simply a title that never made it onto anyone’s release schedule? The exact reason remains unconfirmed, but it’s time to shine a light on this forgotten gem.
