Description
What do the geographical outlines of 19 European nations actually sound like when converted directly into acoustic waves?
In this video, I transform the perimeter borders of 19 countries into a hypnotic audio-visual experience using creative coding and parametric wave synthesis. As each country's border outline is traced in real time, its geographical coordinates and topographic perimeter path are mapped exponentially to audio frequencies, letting cartography synthesize live sound on screen.
From smooth landlocked shapes like Austria, Hungary, and Belarus to jagged island archipelagos like Greece, Denmark, and Estonia, complex coastal boomerang curves like Croatia, tall vertical coastlines like Albania and Finland, isolated island outlines like Iceland, Ireland, and Cyprus, and iconic national silhouettes like France, Germany, Belgium, Czechia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Andorra—every single national border generates a completely unique and hypnotic acoustic fingerprint.
