Description

At 68, He Left California for the Philippines — Here’s What His Money Buys My name's Bill. I'm 71 now, and I left California at 68, so I've had three years to really learn what a dollar does out here. I'm originally from the San Diego area, lived in Southern California most of my life. I worked as a high school history teacher for thirty-three years, and then a few more as a substitute after I officially retired, because, and here's the first hint of where this story is going, a teacher's pension in California does not go as far as you'd hope in California. I taught kids about the Roman Empire and the World Wars and the whole sweep of human history for over three decades, and I loved it, genuinely loved it. But loving your work and being able to afford to retire on what it pays are two very different things, as I found out. Thinking about retiring in Asia? 🌏 I made a short ebook to help you start planning.
