The First Labor Strike in History Happened in Ancient Egypt #shorts

3,000 years before unions existed, Egyptian workers already knew their power. Around 1158 BCE, under Ramesses III, the skilled workers of Deir el-Medina — the village that built royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings — stopped working when their grain payments didn't arrive. They marched to the mortuary temples, sat down, and refused to leave. The event is recorded on the Turin Strike Papyrus, making it the earliest known labor strike in recorded history. #EgyptianHistory #AncientEgypt #DeirElMedina #RamessesIII #LaborHistory #Archaeology #History #AncientHistory #Egypt #ValleyOfTheKings #Civilizations #Documentary #HistoryDocumentary Sources: Turin Strike Papyrus, Deir el-Medina excavation records, Year 29 of Ramesses III's reign
