10 Places in Pennsylvania the Mob Used to Control

Long before Pennsylvania became known for its industry and cities, the state was home to a powerful and dangerous criminal underworld, and in this video we count down ten places across Pennsylvania that were once tightly controlled by the mob. From smoke filled backrooms to entire neighborhoods shaped by organized crime, these locations tell a story of power, violence, and influence that stretched from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. During the height of prohibition and the decades that followed, the Philadelphia crime family and other organized crime networks used these locations to run illegal operations, launder money, and maintain control over entire sections of the state, leaving a legacy that still lingers in Pennsylvania's history today. We explore how each of these ten places became a stronghold for mob activity, revealing the connections between organized crime, local politics, and the everyday businesses that served as fronts for far more dangerous operations. This is a deep dive into a hidden chapter of Pennsylvania history that many people never learn about, showing how deeply organized crime once shaped the state long before modern law enforcement dismantled these networks.
