They Opened Tesla's 'Death Beam'.. Everyone Else Had Already Left the Room

In January 1943, the staff of a Manhattan hotel walked out of their own vault, the federal agents backed away after them, and one engineer was left alone with Tesla's "death beam" and a pocket knife. Tesla had left the package there as payment on a bill he couldn't cover, and told the hotel it would go off if the wrong person opened it. When he died, his nephew got into his safe before the government did, a young engineer told the FBI about a working model in that vault and a torpedo no navy had, and the Office of Naval Intelligence sat down with his trunks to decide what his work was worth to a war. Then the string was cut. And what happened to Tesla's papers after that, from an uncounted set of copies sent to an air base in Ohio to a beam the US Navy fires today, is the part of this story that never closed. #nikolatesla #deathbeam #discovery Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcMOgmkKMJ4U6pQSB6-TffQ?sub_confirmation=1 SOURCES FBI file on Nikola Tesla, examination of Tesla's papers, 26-27 Jan 1943 (transcription): https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/documents/nikola-tesla-fbi-files/176 FBI file on Nikola Tesla, Fitzgerald, the safe and the seizure (transcription): https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/documents/nikola-tesla-fbi-files/148 FBI file on Nikola Tesla, Trump's examination and the basement (transcription): https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/documents/nikola-tesla-fbi-files/149 FBI file on Nikola Tesla, the Governor Clinton vault and the Wright Field photostats (transcription): https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/documents/nikola-tesla-fbi-files/150 Mental Floss, on Tesla paying his hotel bill with his "death beam": https://www.mentalfloss.com/history/time-nikola-tesla-paid-his-hotel-room-death-ray IOP Spark, on Tesla's mysterious box: https://spark.iop.org/teslas-mysterious-box http://History.com , on the declassified FBI Tesla files: https://www.history.com/news/nikola-tesla-files-declassified-fbi http://History.com , on Tesla inventions that were never built: https://www.history.com/news/6-brilliant-tesla-inventions-never-built PBS, on Tesla's missing papers: https://www.pbs.org/tesla/ll/ll_mispapers.html Wikipedia, Nikola Tesla: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla Wikipedia, Tesla's oscillator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla%27s_oscillator Wikipedia, Wardenclyffe Tower: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wardenclyffe_Tower Wikipedia, Death ray: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_ray Wikipedia, John G.
