Description

Every time a snowstorm hits the forecast, the bread and milk disappear from the store. The neighbors who ride out winter calmly aren't in that line, because they stocked up back in October, a little at a time. In this video I count down the 15 things I keep in my winter pantry, from a manual can opener and fridge thermometers to rice, oats, beans, honey, powdered milk, and water. Along the way I share how long each one really keeps, based on USDA, CDC, and BYU food storage research, plus the mistakes I made so you don't have to. That includes a garage full of frozen cans and a sack of beans that never softened. Number one is the simplest habit in the whole list, and it's what holds a winter pantry together.
