Description
What size oxygen absorber do you need for a Mason jar, Mylar bag, plastic bottle, or 5-gallon bucket?
In this video, I explain how oxygen-absorber capacity is measured, why food density matters, and how to choose a practical size for your container. You’ll see recommendations for densely packed foods such as white rice and flour, as well as loosely packed foods such as pasta and many freeze-dried foods.
You’ll also learn:
• What “500 cc” actually means
• Why pasta requires more capacity than rice
• What happens when an absorber is too small—or larger than necessary
• Recommended sizes from pint jars through 5-gallon Mylar bags
• How to simplify your supplies using only 500 cc packets
These recommendations apply to suitable, low-moisture foods stored in airtight containers. Oxygen absorbers should not be used with moist foods, and foods such as sugar and salt do not need them.
Once your food is properly packaged, it must also be stored under the right conditions.
